PLAN YOUR TRIP
AeroVenture and the Casey Half Marathon events take place at the Casey Base Camp in the heart of the Haute Mauricie bush country. We are located approximately 148km from the nearest town and 40km from the nearest villages, but with very limited services. You must arrive ready and well equipped to have a pleasant stay. Yes, the Casey Base Camp is equipped for all emergencies and to assist out visitors, but we cannot help out 2000 people at the same time. We have put together a short list of personal items that we think you will absolutely need, based on our experience here at the Casey Base Camp. AeroVenture and Casey’s Half Marathon are truly magical events and it’s really the environment and the scenery that makes them so.
You have questions, concerns or simply want more information, please go to our Facebook page or our Facebook group. We have an exceptional community that will answer all your questions, again based on everyone’s experience. We can’t wait to welcome you to AeroVenture and Casey’s Half Marathon at the Casey Base Camp.
SLEEPING EQUIPMENT
AeroVenture and Casey’s Half Marathon take place on Labor Day long weekend when the nights
start to get chilly and sometimes cold. To spend the nights warm, here is what we recommend:
- Sleeping bag rated for -5 degrees Celsius (No, it won’t be that cold, but sleeping bag ratings are calculated in a weird way).
- A floor mattress to cut the cold.
- Warm clothes for the night, such as jogging pants and wool or fleece sweater.
- Toque.
- Mittens/gloves for the morning.
If you have the space and you’re the very cautious type, here’s what more we suggest, but which is absolutely not necessary:
- little autumn coat
- Hand warmers/Foot warmers (“hot pads” style)
*If you rent a tent from us, the mattress is not necessary, we provide you with camp beds.
GENERAL EQUIPMENT
After all we are camping in the middle of the bush, for a little more comfort we recommend that you bring the following items with you:
- Flashlight/headlamp for the night.
- Folding chair.
- Rain coat (see weather forecast if needed).
- Wet wipes.
- Plastic bag to bring back your garbage back.
This liste is only a suggestion!
COOKING EQUIPMENT
AeroVenture and Casey’s Half Marathon offer meal options to make your stay easier and with less logistics to manage (visit the “Book Your Experience” page). That said, if you come to live the camping experience in the middle of the bush and you want to be independent in the preparation of your meals, here is what we recommend you bring. Please note that we have pre-established fire pits for cooking over an open fire, but it is strictly forbidden to cut trees, only the wood on the ground or the wood provided can be used.

- Matches or lighter
- Metal utensils.
- Gloves for the fire.
